New York’s Biggest Poker Room
The new poker room, the largest of any commercial casino in New York, is open 24/7, staffed by 80 dealers, and is home to 19 tables that can cater to 171 players at a time.
In addition, there’s an in-room cashier, food and beverage service, USB charging ports at every seat, and more than a dozen TVs hung about the room.
David Urie, formerly of Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, serves at Poker Manager at Resorts World Catskills.
The room offers both limit and no-limit Texas hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, and 7 Card Stud. Players can also look forward to a Bad Beat Jackpot, weekly promotions, and poker tournaments, which will debut later this year.
“We are committed to providing our guests with the region’s most extensive, exciting luxury experiences and our new poker room is best in its class and a perfect example of this commitment,” said Ryan Eller, President and CEO of Resorts World Catskills. “We are confident that this poker room, paired with our property’s vast array of other offerings and amenities, will solidify Resorts World Catskills as the region’s premier casino resort destination.”
The poker room is located on the second floor not far from the main entrance and 1,600-spot parking garage.
Slow Start or Found Money?
The Resorts World Catskills gaming and event complex, which cost a whopping $1.2 billion to build, actually opened a month ahead of schedule on February 8, though the poker room wasn’t unveiled until nearly a month later. When it debuted, the property featured 2,151 slots machines and 112 table games.
Resorts World Catskills Casino Poker Room
It was a slow start for Resorts World Catskills, who failed to match the gaming revenue of nearby competition – del Lago Resort & Casino and Rivers Casino – when both opened in February 2017.
According to the New York State Gaming Commission, Resorts World Catskills pulled in $8.7 million in its first two weeks after opening. In that same timeframe the year prior, Del Lago earned $9.3 million and Rivers $10.3 million. In the final two weeks of February, Resorts World Catskills added $5.3 million.
Despite the slow start, officials are optimistic.
“So, all in all, it’s inaccurate to look strictly at the numbers so far,” said executive vice president Charlie Degliomini told NYup.com. “We didn’t plan to open until March. So this is, literally, found money. We didn’t even budget for it. Wait and see what happens when we get this engine fully running.”
Jack Kennedy, Executive Director of Table Games for Resorts World Catskills, added: “We are thrilled to debut this new poker room to our players. With this addition, we are providing even more experiences that are truly unique to the area and bringing Las Vegas style gaming to the Catskills.”
Resorts World Catskills will continue to add to its offerings in the coming months including private gaming salons and more dining options. Additionally, both a Rees Jones-designed golf course and family-friendly indoor waterpark are in the works for 2019.
